In a society that wants us to be normal  being ourselves is an act of Civil Disobedience.

Civil Disobedience started in 2011 as a group photography exhibition as an event which was part of Athens Rainbow Week  organised by the municipality of Athens.  The exhibition has grown ever since into a festival and now contains video art, performances, workshops and lectures. The festival is  a designated space for liberated queer expression .

The philosophy of the festival is to include all levels of artists as long as they have something interesting to say.  Whilst we strive to include international and accomplished queer artists we are also committed to promoting local beginners.

In recent years , in partnership with Balaclava.Q network,  we have introduced the concept of a special international guest in order to strengthen communication in the queer art community.  We have also incorporated the performance event: Drag Queens Read Homo-Erotic Poetry.
